Under pressure from state investigators, Best Buy came clean today after admitting to investigators that their stores rely on a secret intranet site, which shows higher prices than the ones customers, find at BestBuy.com.
Company said:
Our intention is to provide the best price to our customers which is why we have a price-match policy in place. As prices and offers may vary between retail and online, our stores will certainly match BestBuy.com pricing as long as it qualifies under the terms and conditions of the price match policy.
In general, the intranet is used to trick you into coming into the store, so when you see a sale online and refer to it at the store, the sales person goes “online” and shows you something else (normally a higher price). Just the type of press you want before launching your “luxury” gadget store.
