Lionel Messi scored a hat trick, once again showing the world his skills including a stoppage-time equalizer as Barcelona and Real Madrid shared the spoils in a six-goal thriller at Camp Nou.
Earlier Dutch striker Ruud van Nistelrooy bagged a brace and Sergio Ramos appeared to have won it for Real Madrid with a second-half header but Messi was the hero for the ten men of Barca.
Irrespective of the result, the game certainly lived up to its El Clasico name in the first-half, with four goals, a penalty and a sending off in the first half alone. Ruud van Nistelrooy pounced on a loose defending by Madrid players on the edge of the area to open the scoring with a sublime finish inside five minutes, but Messi soon had the hosts level. The Argentinian sensation slotted home left-footed past Iker Casillas to equalise Real’s opener.
This fighting draw means that Barcelona has once again attain the top slot in Spanish Premiera Liga and looks all set to clinch the title as Real Madrid minus Beckham as well as defensive loopholes don’t look like winning this season.
