Home favourite Andy Roddick have to work hard in beating 15th seed Richard Gasquet of France and reach the quarter-finals of the Indian Wells Masters in California. On the other hand, second seed Rafael Nadal eased into the quarter-final with utmost ease beating Juan Carlos Ferrero 6-1 6-1.
It is worth pointing that the tournament is wide open after the shock exit of Roger Federer in the second round. And if form book is anything to go by left-handed Nadal can win this tournament quite easily because Roddick has an habit of crumbling in crunch matches.
Nadal will now face Argentina’s Juan Ignacio Chela, who beat American Michael Russell 6-4 6-4. Roddick will now face the tough challenge of Ivan Ljubicic, having a 6-3 record against him but he is not taking his next opponent lightly in his quest for a first title since last year’s Cincinnati Masters.
