Rugby star Kyran Bracken has been crowned winner of this year’s Dancing on Ice competition on ITV1.
Earlier, Bracken competed against actress Clare Buckfield in the final skate-off after it was announced that singer Duncan James had finished in third place. Interestingly, the judges’ scores had put Clare above Kyran, but as is the case with plenty of reality shows it was only the public vote which counted for the final, and Bracken had won viewers over with his Bolero performance.
It is worth pointing that the show began on 13 January with a total of 11 contestants, including former Steps singer Lisa Scott-Lee, Ulrika Jonsson and former Boyzone singer Stephen Gately. In theory, Dancing on Ice was one of ITV1’s biggest hits last year, pulling in 11.6m viewers for the final, when former Coronation Street actress Gaynor Faye was crowned champion. Bracken and the other finalists are now all set to participate in the Dancing on Ice tour, which will span 35 shows during spring.
