Arun Sarin, CEO, Vodafone completed a high-voltage three-day trip to India today after a 15-minute meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Sarin said he briefed the Prime Minister about Vodafone’s plan of action for Hutch-Essar.
Talking to media persons after the meeting with the PM, Sarin said he is confident that the Essar group would remain a partner in the mobile phone company. In addition, he is also hopeful that a formal agreement with the Ruias would be signed soon though he believes that some work still needed to be done.
Sarin is expected to brief his board about the recent developments and the talks with Essar. That is where, once the board approves a strategy, intermediaries will take over the task of finalizing the relevant pacts.
The routine is expected to start immediately from next week even as Vodafone and Hutchison Telecom International move ahead separately to conclude the sale agreement.
