Takeovers are fast becoming the order of the day in English Premier League. After Chelsea, Manchester United, West Ham, Liverpool, Coventry has also joined the bandwagon, as club has revealed that the talk is going on with an American consortium for a possible takeover.
According to report, the Sky Blues have announced they have signed “non-binding heads of agreement” with Manhattan Sports Capital Partners. The group is in the initial stages of due diligence, but the club said “it will not be possible for some time to be sure if the deal will go ahead”. Coventry is hoping any takeover will reduce their £28m debt and most importantly offer transfer funds for boss Iain Dowie so that Coventry can make a comeback in the top flight of English football, i.e., in English Premier League.
